Well, the search for a job is still on. I managed to take care of the rent, though, so it's more personal ambition and desire to get out of this stagnant place I'm in that's driving these next few job interviews. We'll see how it goes. Balancing all these interviews and both my jobs takes a lot of time, more than I expected. No pain, no gain, however.
The good thing is that I received a strange letter in the mail today from some powered construction worker in LA that has apparently heard of my abilities somewhere. We'll see how that works out - anything for a bit more cash in my pockets.

The man doing the interview told me that gloves were not part of the dress code. He asked me to take them off the moment I entered the office. Luckily, I told him that I had low blood circulation and could provide a doctor's note. With some persuasion, I think I managed to convince him that I would make a good candidate for the position despite the gloves problem.
Unfortunately, they were supposed to call me back several days later with the results, and it's been more than several and still no call. So back to bartending and waitressing for me. Because I took time off for the interview, I'm farther behind on rent than I normally am this time of month. Maybe I should look into getting a different apartment with less rent.

Today I have a meeting in one of the suburbs of Los Angeles, where I'm applying to work as an assistant for a law firm. It's an easy commute from where I live in New Haven - though everything is these days with the ITN - and the pay is good. I'll still have to keep my parttime jobs if I get hired, but it'll be more than I'm making now.
The one thing is that the person doing the interview is... one of those few backwards people who are still think people with powers are freaks of nature. The type who are still thinking we're all villains and the few heroes running around are doing more harm than good. One of those people. Yeah, I know, I thought those cavemen had died out years ago. Apparently not.
For those who don't know me, I have to wear gloves, because of the dumbest power since this history of mankind began. I don't know what I'll tell him when he asks why. Probably the truth, but what if he's a creep who withdraws the offer the moment he finds out? I'd rather work with a creep and earn money than not work with a creep and go broke.

Take it from an expert: never work in the restaurant business. Not unless you can own the restaurant. Sometimes I wonder why people think it's amusing to make their servers' lives miserable. People should remember that their waiter or bartender is another person, trying to earn a living like everyone else. Please, please, tip the service when you eat or drink somewhere. Going to a table and seeing a measly quarter on the table makes no one's rent any easier to pay. Some days in this line of work, it feels like humanity has no hope at all.
Yes, old friends, Lucy Cartwright, '99 school secretary, is working in both the aforementioned careers. The details aren't fit for a public domain, so I'll leave the story at that. I know it might be a surprise. Mr. Cartigan, was that offer yet to pass up if it is real - what am I saying?
On another note, it has been nice to speak to old friends and classmates again. It's been too long, I've realized, since I've seen anyone from the old Veritas days. The class of '99 shouldn't have lost touch so quickly. It almost makes me nostalgic for the way things used to be. We were an amazing class. Perhaps this connection system created by Veritas has its uses after all.

Welcome, everyone. As introductions are in order, the name's Lucy Cartwright, from the year '99. Most of you probably remember me from the student council scandal of 1999 - the marvelous coincidence when several people mysterious gained office and rumored bribery took place, although I'm still keeping mum on the validity of those rumors - or my legendary superlative as "Most Likely to Run a Political Machine", which caused a bit of controversy with the teachers. Unfortunately, I'm less active in the world right now than I used to be. No worries, I'm sure I'll find my way back somehow. Soon as I finally leave New Haven behind for good, that is. If any of the old alums are in the area with job connections, please, send an application my way. I'll clean the inside of a fishbowl if it'll get me paid better than this. Anyone looking for a secretary? I have amazing credentials, and polished supportive skills. Not to mention I charge people's abilities. Isn't that a plus for a prospective powered employer?
In that respect, if anyone has any job advice for how to apply to a job when you're reputation's in the drain, please, I'd love the advice. One leech of a boss can destroy a lifetime's work.
With that said, it's nice to see all of you again. Particularly if any of you are interested in politics.
